SAUNAS

Finnish Sauna

The Finnish sauna, sometimes also known as “a dry sauna” stands out as the one with the highest temperature from all saunas (between 60°C and 110°C) with really low (around 5% – 15%) humidity. The heart of the Finnish sauna is the stove that heats the stones, seats and backrests. The interior is usually made out of wood, very often cedar.

A traditional Finnish sauna experience protects against cardiovascular disease, aids relaxation, sleep, rheumatoid diseases, chronic fatigue and pain syndromes. It also reduces stress, improves exercise performance, muscle recovery and the skin’s moisture barrier properties.

Steam Sauna

A Steam sauna is a place with a lower temperature than a dry sauna – but it has very high humidity – not lower than 40% going up to 100%. It is also heated by a stove but there is also a steam generator.

There are huge benefits to both types of sauna – both are relaxing, helping to rid the body of toxic substances and speed up the body’s metabolism. Because of the really high temperatures achieved in a Finnish Sauna, sessions inside should generally be shorter than in a Steam Sauna. Of course, everything is dependant on the user’s condition.

AROMATHERAPY

Aromatherapy – a branch of alternative medicine that uses essential oils and other fragrances. At Thousand Miles, we use Aromatherapy in conjunction with the Finnish Sauna experience, during an extraordinary sauna session. A sauna session is conducted by a sauna master, (usually lasting from 9 to 16 minutes) during which, the sauna master tells the participants about the specifics of the session.

Participants will learn about the safe and hygienic use of the sauna and will also be informed about the specific smell that will accompany the sauna session. The fragrances are usually fruity and plant-based, sometimes menthol is used – a special type of fragrance oil, which allows you to feel cool, starting from the nostrils, through the neck and chest, despite the temperature in the sauna reaching 110°C.

During the sauna session, our guests can submerge themselves into a specially created ambiance, to gently temper the senses by combining the aromatherapy with mood lighting and relaxing music.

SALT CAVE

The salt cave or to use its official name “Brine Inhaler” is a perfect complement to our other medicinal therapies. The room has walls covered with lumps of salt, there are salt lamps that add to the ambiance and serenity of the overall experience. Often, soft, relaxing music plays in the room, which further affects our relaxation and mood.

Inhalation alone, is often not enough to cure us of our ailments. It will never replace a stay at the seaside, where a substantial dose of iodine can seriously rejuvenate your salutary energy levels. However in the city, you would be hard pushed to find a better opportunity to breathe air, so saturated with minerals. In the salt cave, elements such as iodine, calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium, bromine, selenium and copper have such a positive effect on our physical health and mental well-being by helping to absorb these minerals into the bloodstream and then they can get to work on our internal organs. Due to the stimulation and the encouragement of proper functioning of the internal organs, these sessions can indirectly support more effective and healthier weight loss and strengthen immunity.

JACUZZI BATH

These spa baths feature air and water jets, that create bubbling effects around your body, giving a sense of calmness that is hard to beat. A lengthy relaxing, heated soak in conjunction with a powerful massage to target those aches and strains of life: the foundation of hydrotherapy.

At Thousand Miles, we provide an experience that allows for a longer soak without adding more hot water. Multiple, powerful mini jets circulate warm water continuously to both stimulate or calm (depending on the type of massage selected) your senses during a beautifully, relaxing soak.

The benefits of hydrotherapy are proven: if you work hard and play hard, a whirlpool bath is one of the best things you can do for your body.

A dip in the hot tub has many health benefits as well as helping you relax and improve your mental state. The heat widens blood vessels, which sends nutrient-rich blood throughout your body. Warm water also brings down swelling and loosens tight muscles. And the water’s buoyancy takes weight off painful joints.
